How to study PowerPoint slides with ELIMU

Re-reading a deck feels productive but rarely sticks. Turning it into questions you have to answer does.

1. Upload your slides

Drop in the PPTX, or the PDF your lecturer posted. One deck at a time, up to 25MB.

2. We build the guide

The slide text becomes an overview, a detailed summary, flashcards, and a quiz.

3. Study, then save

Read it straight away. Create a free account only if you want to keep it or do more decks.

Why a slide deck is a bad study guide on its own

Lecture slides are written to be talked over. The bullet points are prompts for the lecturer, so the explanations, the connections between ideas, and the “this will be on the exam” moments live in the speaker notes or in your memory of the lecture, not on the slide.

A study guide fixes that by filling in the gaps: it restates each section in full sentences, pulls out the terms you will be asked to define, and turns the material into questions. That last part matters most. Active recall, answering a question from memory, beats re-reading for long-term retention in study after study. Flashcards and a quiz are the fastest way to get there.

ELIMU does the conversion for you. Upload the deck, and the summary, flashcards, and quiz are ready before you would have finished re-reading slide ten.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about converting slides to a study guide

How do I turn a PowerPoint into a study guide?

Upload the PPTX file, or a PDF export of it, and ELIMU reads the text on every slide. In about a minute you get a lesson page with a high-level summary, a detailed summary, flashcards, and a quiz built from the slide content.

Is the PowerPoint to study guide converter free?

Yes. You can upload a deck and read the full study guide preview without an account. Create a free account only if you want to save the guide, review the flashcards with spaced repetition, or convert more decks.

What file types work?

PPTX files and PDF files up to 25MB. If your slides are in Google Slides or Keynote, export them to PPTX or PDF first.

What does the study guide include?

A short overview of the whole deck, a detailed section-by-section summary, a set of flashcards for the key terms and concepts, and a multiple-choice quiz so you can test yourself before the exam.

Will it work on long lecture decks?

Yes. Very long decks are split into parts. The free preview shows the first part in full, and a free account lets you generate the remaining parts as separate lessons.

Does it use the speaker notes?

Not yet. The study guide is built from the text on the slides themselves. If the important explanations live in the notes pane, export the deck to PDF with notes pages included and upload that.
